    Default Alliweightloss.co.uk

I have just been reading about alli on the website, and it seems as if there are lots of pluses and minuses to do with this drug.

Has anyone had any real disasters with Alli because im really thinking of trying it.

I read quite a few reviews and I think I'm going to give it a go.

On fbshealth.com/beproactive_research.php, there is a a review of the clinical evidence for Proactol, and etc.

I'm not sure how complete it is. It seems to me that there needs to be more peer reviewed, published clinical trials for Proactol. That's not to say it doesn't work, but just that more objective evidence should be available.

Why? Actually, Alli has more solid clinical evidence. It definitely works. And it definitely causes side effects.

On the other hand, Proactol is probably safer, since it is made with a commonly eaten food. However, a lot of foods are safe to eat, but not all of them will help you lose weight. The question is: does something made with Nopal Cactus lead to sustained weight loss?

Again, I'm not saying Proactol doesn't work. But where is the peer reviewed evidence?

One problem with supplements is that they do not have to pass the same peer reviewed, clinical trial process that drugs do. This is very unfortunate, because some of them really are safer and more effective.

I have read a couple of reviews from users that Alli is indeed effective but there are others that claims it doesn't work for them. Just like other supplements that work great on others and others complain that they don't notice anything at all. I think it depends if the body responds to it or not. Some people who may have complained of Alli or proactol not working because some just depend on it to do its job and not help the pill at all by maintaining a balanced diet and exercising.

You are right. Even people with stomach bands can start to regain weight again if they are determined enough to over eat. My uncle just had the operation, and they warned him that it is not a miracle cure. You have to want to change your life!

Ali blocks your body from absorbing fat. It actually does "work" in that sense. If you ate and exercised exactly the same as before, you would take in less calories and therefore either lose weight or at least not gain weight as fast.

But, research has shown that many people will naturally and automatically compensate by simply eating more. Or, some people's metabolism might even slow down a bit (go into "starvation mode.) Because your body did not evolve to lose weight! Losing weight used to be a very bad thing for most of human history.

I think if you are going to lose weight over the long term, you have to do it gradually, and change your lifestyle in several different ways. No magic pill will solve all your problems if you are not prepared to exercise more and eat better. Exercise is especially important if you can increase your muscle mass, because muscles burrn a lot of calories even when you are at rest!

That said, because your body fights so hard to hang onto fat, I do think that diet pills have their place. Its easy for people to preach about being a "better person", but I can tell you that I eat very little in my opinion, and I'm still overwieght. It just doesn't seem fair.

I've been eating some myself for the past few days (SkinnyLatte). They are not pills, exactly: more like sugar free candies with some coffee bean extract in them. My experience so far is that they taste OK, and don't seem to make me feel hungrier. When I looked in the mirror this morning, my face seemed slimmer (that's usually where I first notice any weight loss), but it's still too soon to say.

Personally, I would not take Ali, because I've heard that it can interfere with absorbtion of some vitamins. And, besides, some oils are actually good for you (we eat fish oil every day.) Coffee, on the other hand, is something I can easily understand (I've been drinking it all my life!), so its something I would feel confortable taking for as long as necessary to gradually lose weight, and give my body enough time to "reset itself" at the new weight.

My whole family is overweight. My mom is so bad that she uses a motorized chair to get around. I have no doubt that this is a medical condition and it is hereditary. I look forward to the day when this stops being a "moral issue" that skinny people to judge us about.
