Default Is anyone aware of any connection between elevated liver enzymes (ALT & AST) & the

weight loss med Alli? I've been followed for the past 7-8 years for a chronic liver problem for which I've been on Prednisone when required to get my liver "back in check." My liver function tests had been normal until the last couple of months at which time they skyrocketed. The only new thing that I've introduced into my system is the weight loss medication Alli (orlistat 60 mg). Any answers would be greatly appreciated as this medication has really seemed to help me lose some pounds and I'd hate to stop taking it unless I absolutely have to.

I never had high liver enzymes until starting Alli. I stopped taking it and am going back to be re-tested Monday. The Alli people certainly don't list this as a possible side effect but if you do a Google search of "Alli elevated liver enzymes", other people have posed the same question. Coincidence, maybe, but I'm suspect.

Default Alli and liver enzymes

I just got a call from my doctor. The only new thing I am doing is Alli. He reports my enzymes are elevated. I have never had a problem like this before! I go back in a month for a retest.

Since starting Alli I have had two blood test and both showed high liver enzymes. I have never had this before and also, I had light colored streaks in my stools. After stopping Alli it stopped getting white, when I started Alli again it started to have light coloring again. I stopped Alli completely. I will get my blood retested again soon. Has anyone else had this problem with the stool?
