    For a lady, giving birth to a baby must be happiest moment in her life. Looking at the baby, the pain she had during the pregnancy gets replaced by the pleasure of being mother. Pregnancy brings lots of changes in the lady’s weight right from her first trimester till she delivers and even after the birth of baby.

    Generally when a lady gives a birth to a baby, she loses around 13 pounds of her total body weight immediately. When you come home by leaving the hospital, you continue to lose your weight. You lose another three kilos i.e. four to seven pounds, once your uterus reverts to its original size.

    It goes without saying that if you feed your baby with breasts, you require more energy because producing the milk uses the fat stored in your body and burns up many calories as compare to the calories burnt in normal state of the body. It is quite important to bring your weight to normal position gradually and not suddenly. The process is allowed to happen naturally other than taking pills for the same. The aim is to bring the figure back by six months.

    Mind it that early motherhood days are not at all good period to restrict your diet. Your body needs some extra energy in terms of extra calories to meet your body’s need and your baby’s body need in the form of milk. Losing the weight is quite obvious in all these conditions and hence, the perfect diet chart is to be followed that meets your daily calories need.
    One should go for wide variety of foods like breads, rice, pasta, vegetables, legumes etc. These provide good calories and nutrients. One can also include foods like fruits, milk, cheese, yogurt and lean meat. These are considered to be nourishing your entire body system. Poultry, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds are also considered to be good for restoring the weight loss after pregnancy.

    Another important thing is drinking water. The sufficient water supply empowers the metabolism of the body and hence, it is advisable to drink plenty of the water in normal circumstances. Never ever try to skip your meals especially breakfast. It is wrong concept that skipping these suppers will bring your figure back. All you require is smart diet not the heavy or light diet.

    Have your meals at regular intervals. Your diet should be nutritious and well balanced. Too much fat and sugar is injurious to health if taken in excess. After delivery, your abdomen and pelvis needs to be massaged in a very specific manner. Professional approach of massage with special medicated herbal oils will surely give you pleasure and will bring the tone of the skin very quickly. One has to remember that if your baby is delivered by cesarean operation, these massages are to be done only after consulting your doctor.

    Light exercises also give you best results in the loss of the weight after pregnancy. Pelvic floor exercises are good to do after pregnancy to restore your figure.

    Yes drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water every day. Change your high sugar beverages such as sodas and juices with some water and a pinch of fresh lemon. You might also try flavored seltzer water which has no calories. You can slice out hundreds of calories a day this way. There's also that has techniques to help lose post-pregnancy weight.

    Great post DietForums. I agree that breastfeeding also helps burn calories (at least 500 calories per hour). Also, not all women lose weight after pregnancy. Some of them did not revert to their normal size and struggle to keep the weight off.
