Default Detox diet intends to flush your body waste!

Detox, whic is a shorter term for detoxification, is the removal of toxic substances from the body. It is one of the functions of the liver and kidneys, but can also be achieved artificially by techniques such as dialysis and chelation therapy.

Diets are very important and are usually the basis for any detox program, whether it is herbs, cleansing or other detox programs. Detox diets will generally eliminate trigger foods, which may cause many problems with digestion and elimination. Foods like wheat and dairy are often the cause of allergies. Sugar is eliminated because of its empty calories and tendency to produce hypoglycemia. Meats are eliminated because they may contain hormones, antibiotics and are difficult to digest. Caffeine is wise to avoid, since it has many ill effects on the body's digestion. Refined, processed and junk foods are also out for any detox program to work.

    Refined white sugar

A lot has been written about the detrimental effects of refined white sugar on the body. It is really very bad for you. Inform yourself because a lot of products contain a lot of refined white sugar. Cola for instance, but also ketchup contains a lot. Try to cut down on it by using brown sugars, like cane sugar.

Sugar has a stimulating effect. If you consume a product full of sugar you get a kick out of it, that's why products that contain a lot of sugar are so attractive.

One form of the detoxification diet is one made up exclusively of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, either raw or cooked, and whole grains, both cooked and sprouted; however, no breads or baked goods, animal foods and dairy products or alcohol are used. This diet keeps fiber and water intake up and helps colon detoxification. Most people can handle this well and make the shift from their regular diet with a few days transition.

The lymphatic system is used to bring nourishment to cells and to remove wastes. The lymph nodes, located in the lymph vessels, break down toxins. The breakdown of toxins is especially important during infections and other acute illnesses. Deep breathing and movement help keep the lymph moving through the lymph vessels.

This is a great article! I have been wanting to go through detoxification so cleanse my body but I couldn't really do it. I think it'll be hard for me to just go with fruits and vegetables for a couple of days. A friend did it though and only ate grapes for a week and she lost a lot of weight and said she's never been healthier

We don't use refined sugar in the house since I was little. My mom always say that it's not good for the body so we really avoid it. Although there are some foods that really contain refined sugar, I just try to cut it down a bit if I really need to have them

there are other options for detoxification though. Right now, they say that drinking cranberry juice does help. I love the taste of it so I made it part of my diet plan.

Me too! I drink half a glass of cranberry juice everyday as suggested my aunt. She has allergy to almost everything and drinking cranberry juice for a long time has helped her with that. I heard that it's also a good way to cleanse the body and kidney. Is grape juice as effective and healthy as cranberry juice? Do you think I can drink them alternately with cranberry juice?

You are right mikaela. The most notable benefit of cranberry juice, and what sets it apart from other fruit juices, is its ability to treat and prevent urinary tract infections. Do you know that a cup of cranberries has about 50 calories. It is very rich in antioxidants which benefit the body in many ways. It is also an excellent source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and manganese and vitamin K. It contains zero cholesterol and the total fat composition is only 0.1 gram, which makes it a very low fat and very healthy drink!

My mom has always been a fan of cranberry juice because my grandma drinks them too. The great benefits we get from cranberries are:

    • Prevention of Kidney Stone Formation
    • Prevents Stomach Related Problems
    • Protection Against Macular Degeneration- (An affliction of the eyes that affect many people as they age)
    • Cranberries Combat Herpes Virus
    • Help reduce high cholesterol levels
    • Reduction of Dental Plaque

I don't think you can get all these health benefits from grape juice though. Better stick to cranberry juice mikaela

Grape juice does help strengthen the immune system, helps fatigue by replenishing our body's iron supply, and it is also very rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals. You have to be careful though when purchasing these juice. Make sure you are buying 100 % grape juice with all natural ingredients (without any preservative) and not just cocktail juices.

Cranberry juice is a little expensive. Are there cheaper options? What if I eat steamed vegetables and fresh fruits for a week, is that going to be considered as a detox process?
