    Hi, everyone, i found an interesting article!What do you think does lack of sleep influences our weight?
    "Humans need sleep. Sleep restores energy, allowing the body to function day after day. Not getting enough sleep can be harmful.
    Lack of sleep, or sleep deprivation, has been linked to a variety of negative health effects, such as poor memory, compromised immune system function, high blood pressure, irritability, dizziness, and headaches.
    The amount of sleep people need varies, but commonly it is recommended that adults get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
    Other risks associated with lack of sleep include weight-gain and obesity. So for individuals looking to lose weight, getting sufficient sleep is especially important.
    And writing in the Annals of Internal Medicine, researchers found lack of sleep in dieters may prevent them from losing as much body fat as they otherwise would if they were getting enough sleep.
    For the study, 10 overweight men and women lived in a sleep lab for two separate two-week periods. Both weeks the participants were kept on a calorie-restricted diet, but for one week the individuals slept for 8.5 hours per night, then the other week, study participants only received 5.5 hours of sleep each night.
    Results showed that dieters lost the same amount of weight under both sleep conditions, but during the sleep-restricted week, the individuals lost muscle rather than body fat.
    So to ensure the best weight loss, the scientists suggest people pay more attention to their daily routines; diet and exercise habits, and of course, sleep."

    Sleep deprivation does affect the weight because the body burns lesser fats. It also makes us bloated and causes our organs get inflamed. Every time I lack sleep I always notice that I look a lot heavier and I don't like it so I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every time.

    When I was working too hard, I lost some weight but it wasn't a healthy way because I got stressed and very sick. Stress from lack of sleep can damage the body and can kill so it is not advisable to deprive yourself of the needed time to sleep. It is when the body rests, rejuvenates, and re-energize that's why it is important to give time for it

    Somebody once told me that during sleep we even lose some extra calories!

    Think about this, if you spend a lot of time sleeping you don't eat to take in more calories that you cannot burn. Sleep affects the hormones. Production of both hormones leptin and ghrelin may be influenced by how much or how little we sleep. We know that both influence our appetite and how we lose/gain weight.

    So, that means that no calories are burned during sleep...right?

    You still burn calories when you sleep. Inadequate amount of sleep may make weight loss and weight control more difficult because it changes our our metabolism, eating, and activity patterns. We need to keep the metabolism fast so having enough hours of sleep help a lot. If you sleep longer your body burns more calories without taking in any and that's one way of helping yourself lose weight

    I sleep about 8 hours a day and I burn 343 calories during that 8 hour period of nothing but complete rest. I am not only burning more calories but also helping my metabolism to boost

    That's right. Lack of sleep affects the hormones in our body. It slows down our metabolism and at the same time affects our appetite. So instead of staying up late in front of your computer, why not go to sleep and help your body burn more calories. You also avoid the possible craving of foods you most likely will regret eating.

    If I am tired and I lack sleep, I normally grab for junk foods that are readily and easily available which isn't good. That's why I always try to give myself enough rest because when I do I have more energy and don't get hungry that often. If I have time I do try to sleep because it helps me with my boredom which can sometimes lead to munching on foods I don't need.
