Food-triggered asthma is uncommon but it really is possible. I have allergic reaction to artificial sweeteners that I instantly have difficulty breathing the moment I consume any food with it. It's really weird but it happens.

Spicy foods like chili, hot mustard, garlic and onion can dilate air passageways. They do so by stimulating nerves, which creates a watery fluid in the mouth, throat and lungs.
