I read an interesting article at WebMD and it says High-Fat, High Calorie Meals May Make Asthma Worse. Apparently, these meals increase inflammation of the lung airways.
Researchers conducted a study where some participants at high fat, high calorie meals (fast food hamburgers and hash brown = 1,000 calories and 52% of which came from fat) while other ate low fat, calorie meals (200 calories and 13% fat). The findings showed that the group who are high fat meals had a reduced response to the bronchodilators, compared to the group who ate low fat foods.
According to study author Leslie Wood, PhD, of University of Newcastle in Australia, The high-fat meal supressed the effectiveness of albuterol to improve lung function to asthma.
Which is why to best manage your asthma, reduce the fat intake in your diet since high fat foods may trigger an asthma attack.
