Good for you jeanniebe. I haven't tried isagenix or any other diet program. I just prefer to lose and maintain my weight naturally. Good to hear about the results of isagenix on you though

i'm sure this diet is not really correct.
human organism needs lots of nutrients that only fruits and vegetables contain, like essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that may help to protect you from chronic diseases (stroke, other cardiovascular diseases, cancers).
your diet should be balanced. i think, it's the only way of healthy weightloss. and certainly you need exercises to lose more calories.

I agree with you loony. and I experienced it at 2003 only once. It is really easy to lose weight with this diet but you gain them back so sooner that you can even enjoy your weight lost.and I am not sure that if you lose fat with this diet. maybe the lost kilograms are your muscles which is very unhealthy for our body. I support and use low calorie diet.

You do lose fat with diet if you consume less calories than your body needs. I still think that balanced diet is the best way to maintain a healthy body together with proper exercise.

If we don't eat a balanced meal and exercise, we will eventually lose muscles instead of fat. I have lost and gained a lot of weight before and it isn't good for the body. Patience and persistence are what a dieter needs to keep with the goal

Thanks for this. I've tried this diet in the past and I must say that it really worked for me. I eventually had to stop it because it made me tired, but I lost a lot of weight!diet reviews

I'd like to clear up some misconceptions throughout this thread. This is not just my opinion. I would suggest, if people are interested, they pick up "Good Calories/Bad Calories" or "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes or even "The Diabetes Solution" by Dr. Richard Bernstein. "The Great Cholesterol Con" by Dr. Malcolm Kendrick is another excellent source. All of these books have wonderful appendices and source the research to come to these conclusions. There are many more books out there, but these are my favorites.

Atkins is a perfectly balanced diet. We can get all the nutrients we need in protein and green vegies. It is not necessary to eat grains, fruits or starches. Obviously, these items do give variety to our diet...but they are not necessary for a balanced diet.

Atkins, or any low carb diet, will not hurt healthy kidneys nor cause kidney related disease (e.g. infections, stones, etc.). In fact, a higher protein diet may be more beneficial to women as they age.

Atkins does not cause osteoporosis. Calcium can be obtained through vegetables and cheese.

Ketoacidosis is not the same as ketosis. The first is a life threatening condition due to diabetes. The second is not.

High fat diets do not cause heart disease; however, despite all the research showing this is one of the biggest lies the medical community has been telling us, they ADA and AMA still refuse to change their stance. A 5 year study just finished this last summer by Harvard showed that the people on a low carb/high fat diet lost more weight than the low carb/low fat group. The low carb/low fat group improved their lipid profile by 11%. The low carb/high fat group improved by 23%. Fat is not the problem. Sugar and processed carbs are the problem.

The body does not go into starvation mode when it is deprived of carbohydrates. The body will go through a period of adjustment/withdrawal during the induction period (first 2 weeks) and many people suffer through the physical effects of that withdrawal - nausea, weakness, dizziness, etc. These symptoms usually go away. Sometimes they don't because the person drinks caffeinated products which have a tendency to cause hypoglycemia which has symptoms of weakness, dizziness, nausea, etc.

Constipation can be a problem with any diet, but the higher fat content of Atkins along with the 2 cups of vegies per day should make that a non-issue. Constipation is also caused by not drinking enough water.

Atkins is not an all protein diet so no fear of 'how long can you go without eating vegetables'. During the first 2 weeks, you eat 2 cups of salad type vegies per day. After that you can eat a cup of green vegies (cooked) or 2 cups raw with your lunch and dinner. I keep my carbs under 30gm per day and I get a cup of cooked vegies at my two main meals.

Yes, if you go off Atkins, you will gain the weight back. The same is true of *any* diet.

I'll also add that the brain does not need carbohydrates to functions. The brain needs glucose and, if it can't get it from carbs, the liver will convert protein into glucose and as little as 60gm of protein a day is enough to supply all the glucose needs.

I lost half my excess weight on Atkins. I lost the other half on a very high carb (complex carb) vegetarian diet. I'm back on Atkins because it was either that or going back on insulin.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that Atkins or other low carb WOE are the only perfect diet. Just trying to correct some of the misinformation that has come to be seen as fact (thank you, media)...and just isn't.
