I used to smoke weed regularly. I decided to quit six months ago and so far I've been successful but I still think about smoking very often. I miss it but I know I don't really need it. It's just the craving we get like when we crave candy bars or ice cream but we're not hungry in reality. I also miss my friends who are always high. I don't have much to say to them anymore.
The feeling will be with us for long, but be patient. Also, try not to develop another addiction to cope, like tobacco. It defeats the point of quitting. Instead, take walks or exercise when you're thinking about getting some pot. Talk to someone on the phone or visit someone, don't be alone thinking about it. Being outdoors has been very helpful for me, I'm more social and healthier now just by jogging in a local park instead of getting wasted.
