I don't know ayone who deals with this but in my understanding, insulin resistant individuals should should avoid refined carbohydrates and sugar and experts suggest tht high protein diet is best for them. Energy can be found in any food and they are expressed in form of calories.
Good point.. So which is best for them? low carb diet or high protein diet? I would suggest high protein, especially proteins from fish..
According to diabetic expert, Dr. Bernstein (The Diabetes Solution), low carb, moderate protein and high fat is the best diet. Less than 30gm of carbs per day spread out 6-12-12 (breakfast, lunch, dinner), moderate protein based on the 1gm per kilo of current weight, and high fat (60%).
