Here are some simple easy to follow tips for everyone to help you in losing weight. I got this off good housekeeping and I thought I share them with you to help you get starter.
Don't Shop for Groceries When You're Hungry
Eat before shopping. Otherwise, you'll be too tempted by foods you know you shouldn't buy. Willpower is just not strong when you're feeling weak from hunger!
Put "Bad" Foods Out of Reach
What if you had to get on a stepladder each and every time you wanted to eat a cookie or grab a salty snack? Will you actually go to such lengths as getting the ladder from another room, opening it up, and climbing up it — just to reach a bag of Doritos? Probably not. Or you'd at least think twice before doing so.
Try Exercise on Demand
If you haven't already, check out the Exercise on Demand station on cable television. It has some really good programs. Most are short, so you can kind of mix and match and try new ones all the time. Having shows on demand can be perfect because when you actually get the urge to work out, you can go for it right then and there, not wait for a class to start.
Exercise, Even if It's Only for 15 Minutes
Before you start your day, do some at-home exercises, such as 30 squats (3 sets of 10 or 12) and 20 pliés. Lift 5-pound weights and do a bunch of arm exercises and sit-ups. And stretch, stretch, stretch. All told, it only takes about 15 minutes and can make a difference.
Indulge BEFORE Starting a Diet
Get cravings out of your system before starting a new diet. If there's something you've been dying to eat, you're going to have a hard time sticking to any diet because you'll be fantasizing about that one thing you want to eat. It's sort of like cleaning your house before your housekeeper comes.
Meal Replacements Can Help
In order to avoid pigging out on the wrong things, always keep a meal replacement on hand. They can be a great substitute in a pinch.
Try a Meal-Delivery Service, if You Can Afford It
Services like Nu-Kitchen.com can be ideal if you don't have a lot of time to prepare your own healthy meals. It's nice to not have to measure every little thing you eat and just dive in, eat the whole meal, and be assured that your calories were in the right range. But it's very expensive.
Keep Grilled Veggies Around
They're great for dieting. You can put them in a wrap for a grilled veggie sandwich (just add a little chicken or low-fat cheese). Or whip up a stir-fry by just heating them up in a pan with a little soy sauce and teriyaki, and either chicken or shrimp. Or make an Italian salad with the peppers and onions by adding tomato, fresh mozzarella cheese, and balsamic vinegar.
It's Okay to Not Diet While on Vacation
Sampling local food on a vacation is a big part of the experience of traveling. It's hard to go away and feel you have to watch every little thing you eat without ruining the trip. Instead, better to get to a place (mentally) where you feel no guilt while on vacation, but get back on your diet when you return.
Subway Sandwiches Are Great Dieting Tools
Subway sandwiches are not only satisfying, they're actually quite balanced — a little protein, lots of fresh veggies, and whole grains. And it's all portion controlled! And cheap. And convenient.
Self-Tanner Can Fake Slimness
Try self-tanner. It leaves a sun-kissed, soft sheen that seems to smooth the appearance of skin. The dimples in your butt will look diminished, and you won't notice the rolls in your stomach as much.
Try Eating More Cereal
Fiber One cereal can help with dieting. It fills you up quickly and easily. And it's totally satisfying.
Mixing Things Up Is Key
Don't eat the same thing every day and don't do the same exercises every time. That way, you don't get bored and you don't feel so restricted.
It Takes Less to Fill You Up Than You Might Think
Sometimes just eating something small, or even just having a drink, can be enough. By small, I mean a protein bar, a few chips with hummus, one bowl of cereal.... Anything that's not a real "meal," so to speak.
Bad Cooks Can Make Great Dieters
If you're a bad cook, you probably skip more meals, which, over time, can lead to weight loss because you're not capable of making anything you really enjoy eating — and therefore you just eat less overall!
