Default 7 Simple Ways To Cut Calories

    1. Replace soda with water. (that's 150 calories cut)
    2. Replace mayonnaise, ketchup or sauce with mustard (that's at least 100 calories cut)
    3. If you buy a roasted chicken for lunch or dinner, take the skin off (at least 100 calories cut)
    4. Use balsamic vinaigrette or squeezed lemon as dressing for salads (that's at least 120 calories cut)
    5. Skip wine or beer for dinner (at least 120 calories cut)
    6. Cut cheese from your sandwich (150-200 calories cut)
    7. Eat fresh fruit instead of 8-12 ounces of juice for breakfast (at least 100 calories cut)

Cutting at least 100 calories from your meal goes a long way and if you inspect other parts of your meal, perhaps you can even cut more. If you make it a habit to eat consciously, you could improve your health, weight and your overall well being.

I always do numbers 1, 2, 3 and 6. Thanks for posting this kathy. I have other tips too. Eat fresh fruits intead of dried ones, in making a sandwich, choose whole wheat bread instead of bagel, steam or boil foods instead of frying them. That saves you at least 100 calories each.

I have some tips to add too. You could cut at least 100 calories if you:

    1. Choose non fat milk over whole milk
    2. Choose raw vegetables (like carrots or celery) instead of tortilla with dips
    3. When dining out, choose steamed vegetables for side dish intead of potato or pasta
    4. Steam vegetables instead of sauteing them
    5. When buying popcorn, choose the no butter, reduced fat ones.

Thanks mikaela. Also, when we watch TV, we usually grab something to eat, so by simply not eating while watching TV, that could save a lot of calories too.

Steam vegetables instead of sauteing them
1 tablespoon of oil is around 120 calories and you could save that much by steam or boiling foods.

What I do when I eat desserts, I only eat half of the serving and save the other half next day or share it with someone. You could cut calories through that too. The amount you save varies depending on what kind of desserts you're eating.

I usually just skip the dessert the this is a good tip mikaela. If you share the other half with someone else, you won't be tempted to eat it yourself.
