Thumbs up What healthy food should you buy?

Going to the supermarket is actually a little hard for people who want to be healthy. There are tons of delicious foods that can be acquired there and most of them are harmful for your health; chocolates, ice-cream, cookies, cereals; all stuff that will make you gain weight immediately. There is a variety of food which is healthy and delicious at the same time and that you should include in your daily diet:
    • Vegetables and fruits: it is very important that you acquire these products since it is the essential part of a healthy diet.
    • Whole grain products
    • Fish, poultry and lean meats: these are the types of meats that you should be acquiring since are the healthiest for you. Avoid breaded and fried meats.
    • Legumes eggs and nuts are some other proteins that are good for your body; try to acquire them as well.
    • Drinks: try to drink water as much as you can, you can also buy low fat milk and herbal teas. If you are the soda type of person it’s either try to avoid them as much as you can or get the light ones.
    • Frozen products: Choose the ones which are healthy; vegetable portions, protein and make sure you are not acquiring a high fat frozen meal.
    • Condiments, oil and dressings: I would give two descriptions for these: they are sources of refined sugar and poor quality oils.
    • Desserts: just because some products are low fat doesn’t mean they are not good desserts. Try getting fresh fruits and some healthy nuts. There is light ice-cream as well in case you are an ice cream lover.

I am an ice cream lover but I try to avoid them as much and go for yogurt which is a healthier alternative. When I buy my groceries, I never leave without my fresh milk, fruits, and vegetables. Thanks for the tips

I always make sure that I buy my wheat bread because I mostly eat that for breakfast. I also never skip on eggs, butter, and milk tea. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a must for me so it's the first thing I go for when I am buying groceries.

My must haves are fruits and vegetables, distilled water, fish, and cereals. I like to have yogurt too and my prunes

I now add prune juice on my diet and weekly groceries and it has been very helpful. I like how it helps me move everyday and no more constipation!

Oh that's a good addition to the diet mikaela! Instead of taking pills for constipation, why not indeed drink prune juice or eat prunes. These are healthier options and it's rich in antioxidants that helps the body flush out harmful waste off our body

Prunes are my favorite 'candy'! We also eat quite a bit of brown rice. Wish I could find it in bulk.

    Wink Shop The Edges

Most of the healthy foods are on the perimeter of the supermarket in the produce, meat, and dairy departments. Try to avoid the center aisles of the store because that is where the cookies and other less healthy foods containing trans-fats are placed. You'll also save a lot of time if you only cruise the perimeter.

You're right! Most of the junk foods and sweets are in the center aisles and it's a little bit difficult to resist them if you enjoy these foods a lot. I do start in the perimeter and fill my cart with fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products. I don't shop for junk foods and sweets anymore but I make an effort to keep away from them still because sometimes they are just too hard to avoid to
