Post MY RANT - super foods, diet tips, good products, excersise tips

I could go on for ages, but I thought I'd just begin with the basics. Please message me if you have any other questions this is just info I get from my trainer, nutritionist and from chats I have with editors and writers from health magazines when i go to photoshoots and castings and ovcourse my wonderful agent

A list of super foods that are actually good for your body
    ...

Purple carrots – possibly the most nutrient rich vegetable available,
becoming increasingly popular, i found some at the local coles supermarket last
    week

Chia seeds – once loved by the Aztecs, full of omega 3,
fibre and vitamins – they turn into a jelly like substance when mixed with
water, perfect for yogurt and smoothies

Green tea powder – a tiny teaspoon is about the equivalent of
drinking 10 cups of green tea from a tea bag, boosts metabolism

Goats milk yogurt - has more vitamin A,
vitamin B1, riboflavin, and calcium than cow’s milk yogurt, is usually organic
    and preservative free (no nasties)

Silken tofu – for vegetarians and vegans, very high
in protein and you don’t need to cook it just chuck it in the freezer and then
slice it up in salads, or as it comes in a kind of paste form you can use it in
smoothies or as a spread or dip to add extra protein

Wild salmon – full of good fats, protein and
vitamins – delicious grilled on the BBQ served with asparagus spears or sweet potato

Almond spread/ butter – like peanut butter, made
with almonds – a healthier alternative – great on sliced apples or mixed into
    plain yogurts

Ginger – buy it fresh, slice it thinly and add it
to your green tea – has many health benefits and adds a nice taste

Frozen berries – just as good as fresh (if there is
nothing added) you can defrost them into a runny sauce and mix them in muesli,
yogurt, smoothies or add them to desserts

    ----

    Recommended products ...

“...Well, naturally” – they make amazing sugarfree
chocolate and protein bars that are sweetened with STEVIA – a plant extract
that is harmless and natural – unlike equal and splenda

Stevia can be bought in most health food shops, has
a bit of an aftertaste, but its well worth it

    ---

“green” smoothie idea – blend together in a food processor some baby spinach,
peeled ripe pear, avocado and peeled apple

“super” juice – beetroot, ginger, lemon, spinach,
    celery, purple carrot

    Tips:

Don’t eat too much fruit, it is still sugar – compensate with
    veggies

Try and go low sugar – works wonders and really detoxes the
body – increase consumption of lean protein and leafy greens – remember, the
darker the green, the better – avoid iceberg lettuce – it is the nutritional
equivalent of eating cardboard, literally. Purple lettuces are wonderful, so is
    baby spinach and rocket

Women: take a magnesium pill daily – will reduce pms
    cravings and bloating

Excersise wise – aim to do at least 3 cardio workout BEFORE
breakfast – it boosts your metabolism and YOU ARE BURNING FAT, because you have
not yet eaten anything, therefore, you are working off your own energy, not
just getting it from what you just ate – i recommend running outdoors or lap
swimming – join a group or go with a friend for motivation – the fresh air is
    better than the gym

TREDMILL WARNING – alright, this may come hard to some
people, but FACT – when you run/ walk whatever on a treadmill, you are actually
not going as far as the machine indicates you have travelled – because it
measures by the tread moving and not by your footsteps, so basically, if you ‘run
5km’ on the treadmill according to the machine, you have only ran roughly about
3km or so. And its bad for you knees, so
basically, run outdoors, its cheaper and you get a better workout, some fresh
    air and alone time.

Strength – do Pilates – increase flexibility and tones
muscles, i personally also like fitness boxing – its both cardio and strength,
its always fun and a hard workout – gets rid of ‘tuckshop’ lady arms

    Have a wonderful day

Awesome tips Anouk. These are really helpful especially the tip "Don’t eat too much fruit, it is still sugar – compensate with
veggies". I'm totally guilty with this. I eat more fruits than vegetables and didn't even consider the sugar content.

I'll balance my intake from now on.

I haven't tried goat milk yet. Does it taste better than cow's milk? Hmm...I want to know before I try it. Don't want it to go to waste if I didn't like it.
