    Thumbs up Healthy Cheating

    Hi!

I'm CHampagne007 and I'm new to this forum, I've come up with several healthy ways to cheat when I diet. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any other ideas.
    • Kellogg's crunchy nut cornflakes - I just can't live without it. They are mega addictive. So I mix it with my bowl of Special K or Cornflakes - using a proportion of 1:4. The sprinkling of crunchy nut is like the icing on my cake.

    • Coleslaw - I rinse it with water so there's not so much mayonnaise. It reduces the fat content considerably.

    • Pasta - Reduce the carbs in your pasta, only cook half of what you would normally eat and then have a healthy snack later on if you feel hungry.

    • Love bread? Switch to a healthy alternative spread like reduced fat hummus. It's so good for you and tastes brilliant. If you want to pat yourself on the back, have it with carrot sticks or celery.

    • Cook it! The healthy option is to make it yourself. That way you can add less sugar, cheese, butter or whatever evil is in that recipe. You can buy pizza bases or a ready made margerita, add reduced fat cheese (but don't add so much that it all evens out!)

Hi CHampagne007, welcome and thanks for the healthy cheats. I love bread but haven't tried hummus yet. Not sure if we have it here though

Hi Viktoria! Hummus is in supermarkets and it has become very popular. I used to buy it but now I make it. It's actually not very hard to make and very quick, though the first time took me much longer because I had no idea what I was doing. It fills you up too and I mixed in eggplant and chili in my last batch. It's a great snack to take out with you as you can eat it cold. I tend to have a little wholemeal bread each day for health and weight loss as white bread is really bad for you and I hardly ever eat croissants any more even though I love them because the fat in one is equivalent to eating a whole loaf of bread.

Really? I didn't know and I am glad that you shared this with us. I guess I'll avoid croissants in the mean time . I am such a sucker for white bread because wheat bread sometimes tastes different as I am not used to it. However, I am trying so hard all the time to have wheat bread instead of white . I love making garlic bread and using ciabatta instead of white bread instead

I seriously don't know about that either and it's good to know. I have been avoiding breads recently though because it's just so difficult to love it as I have difficulty stopping LOL. Wheat bread is really less tasty than white breads and it takes awhile to get used to it. I'm sure other dieters have been through this dilemma as well. Just keep trying and you'll get there

I wanted to warm up a cold croissant so I wrapped it with paper towel and heated it up in the microwave. The paper towel was stained with many spots of oil. There is a lot of butter in the ingredient for sure. I stopped eating bread a while ago, so I would eat a baby croissant every once and a while as a compensation.
