It's been over 3 weeks now and i hate it!! The injections are killing me and i keep forgetting to take my mid day potassium pills. Mostly i can't seem to stick to it. About 750 calories a day, no fat, no sodim, no dairy, no suger.

I keep cheating and i am only down 8 lbs in total. Apparantly they tell me i should be losing more. 2 more weeks of this and i think i will revert back to weight watchers. It takes longer to lose the weight but at least i can have some pleasurable food and a couple glassess of wine here and there .

I lost 45 pounds on WW about 4 years ago but gained it back, so i know i can do it over a 10 month time frame. The Dr. Bernstein diet is good if you can stick with it and it costs about 175.00 per week but if you stick to the plan you can loss a pound a day and they gaurantee it. You can't fool them either as you have to visit 3 x a week for weight in and injections, also take a urine sample. If you don't have suger in your urine then that means you are eating more than aloud or other foods that are not aloud because if you have suger in your urine then it means you are burning your own fat as you are taking in very little calories and no fat or other suger or sodium so you start to burn the fat you have on your body witch comes out in your urine. If you eat a burger, nachos and eggs then your body utilizes and stores the fat on your body so no suger will be eliminated through your urine. The only way to lose weight is to reduce your intake so that you burn your own fat. The doctor siad that if you were 50 lbs over wiehgt you could live off your own fat for 6 months while taking vitimins and supplements. Yikes !!!

Can you explain to us if what is this diet all about? What are the ways to do this diet.

Hi Luv2, I started on the Bernstien Diet on Jan,2,09, its now Jan,5 and I have already lost 31/2 lbs, Im doing it on my own after reading up on it and talking with other poeple who have been on the diet. Once I got past the first couple of days, I don't mind it at all, even though you get only 800 calories a day, I'm taking my supplements and drinking my water. I hit the scales at 162 and freaked so here I am doing this,I need to see results fast or I dont stay on a diet long, but I'm determined to take off 30 pounds and wear snug fitting clothes again. Sounds like your doing well yourself, keep up the good work and if you want let me know how your doing.

Smile Started Dr Bernstein January 6, 2009

I started with Dr. Bernstein Jan 6, 09 and I have lost approx 6 pounds so far and feel great. Yes I find it hard, but I have tried everything else and since November of 08 I gained 15 pounds to put me at 237 before I started with Dr Bernstein. I am type 2 diabetic and my sugar levels were all over the place and I felt wrotten. What a difference just a week makes. However, I am experiencing dizzy spells but I do know that that comes with the territory (from other diets that were similar), and should go away in another couple of days. I have been reading alot of messages and reviews posted saw that one of the complaints was that the diet is too expensive. So I did some calculations based on my situation. I calculated the cost of what we usually spend in a week to eat out plus the cost of groceries we buy every week and I found that the costs are almost equal to the Dr. Bernstein costs. We don't eat out anymore and that has saved about 100 dollars so far and I noticed that our grocery bills are alot less (just goes to show how much I was eating, wow!)

Hi, I am thinking of joining Dr. Berstein. I am in Toronto and was wondering if you knew the prices, start up costs, etc.. I hope Lindan and P Dieter keep us posted. Would love to know how much the weight is coming off...good luck.

    Default Dr. Bernstein Info

Hi Cheryl, it is nice to hear that you are considering Dr. Bernstein. It is costly, but so far I have been on the diet for almost three weeks and have lost over 13 pounds (weigh in is tomorrow). It is difficult at first, I won't deny that and when someone around you is eating yummy food, it is even harder. But you have to keep thinking about how you will feel after you have lost all the weight. Just remember (and I live by this) "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels". I don't know where this quote came from but it is so true. Anyway, I am paying monthly and the first month cost me approximately $600.00. I know that sounds expensive, but that amount is less that what I was spending in food per month with all the eating out and extra groceries, believe it or not! Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

13 pounds is amazing. Please let me know after your weigh in how much more you have lost. 600.00 is pretty reasonable (considering i spend quite a bit on Smirnoff Ice a month). Of course, I would have to give that up...haha
Do you know if they offer free a visit to check things out?
