Default Diet tips and questions about carbohydrates?

Is this true that foods with no carbohydrates can't make you gain fat? Or is this only true to an extent, or is it a myth? I'm on a diet restricting all carbohydrates. Is it bad for me? How many calories should I eat a day on this diet? The same normal amount I usually would? Or more? Maybe even less..? Explanations please!

Hi deniele.. I don't believe that no carb diets would make you gain fat. It's true that you will lose weight quickly but I would not suggest that you do this in a long term basis

I agree. The minimum carb intake a day should be around 130 grams so you won't lose lean tissues. As for your question about calories, you will need to calculate your daily calori need using a BMR calculator. You daily calorie intake is based on your height, current weight, age and level of activity in a day.

Cabs serves as fuel that gives us energy. It's true that too much carb makes you gain weight but not all carbs are bad. Foods such as oats, whole wheat bread, whole grain rice and carbs found in fruits are all good sources of carbs. Carbohydrates found in cookies, sweets, ice cream or soft drinks are the ones that you need to avoid.

Here are a few sources of bad carbs that you need to stay away from:

    1. Jams, jelly and all kinds of candies
    2. Fruit drinks, fruit juices and sodas (in bottles or cans)
    3. Custards, puddings and other sweets
    4. Processed refined grains (example: white rice)
    5. Pasta and bread made with refined flour
