Default do abdominal excercises get rid of fat?

i have heard that doing ab excercises (sit ups, crunches, leg lifts, etc) get RID of belly fat, and make the tummy area flatter (LESS FAT!!)
i have recently found out on a website that doing excercises like that dont have an impact on the amount of belly fat.

They help somewhat. We're all anatomically mostly the same in the ab area. They will show with proper diet. They're just covered with a layer of fat.....and I don't mean lots of fat. That's burned off with exercise and diet. They go together.
If anyone has a workout plan 70% of how they will look in the end will be because of diet.
