Default What is Flat Belly Diet Plan?

The basic Flat Belly Diet plan is a 1,600-calorie Mediterranean-style diet with an emphasis on wholesome, unrefined foods including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, lean protein, and very little red meat (once a month).

The secret ingredient in the Flat Belly Diet that whittles away belly fat is the addition of a monounsaturated fat, or MUFA, at every meal. MUFAs are found in olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, soybean, flax, and olive and sunflower oils.

MUFAs have health benefits and target belly fat. They also help control satiety, so by adding in one MUFA at meals and snacks it is easier to stick with the plan and lose belly fat

Before starting on the 28-day plan, dieters go on a 1,200- to 1400-calorie, four-day anti-bloat jump-start period designed to reduce bloating and get dieters in the mind-set of a healthier eating plan. During the jump-start, dieters drink 2 liters of daily "sassy water," a blend of spices, herbs, citrus, and cucumber.

Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat eater, have food allergies, or are lactose intolerant, this plan can be adapted to meet your individual needs. The plan calls for four, 400-calorie meals spaced every four hours, and each meal includes a MUFA.

Dieters don't count calories. Instead, they choose from a list of 28 interchangeable mix-and-match breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snack packs. Food lists with portion sizes and calories allow flexibility in creating snack packs and can be used whenever you need it most. Eighty recipes are included with nutrient analysis of calories, protein, carbohydrates, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium and fiber.

I am so glad to read about this! Dark chocolates have MUFAs that target belly fat. Now I can eat chocolates without feeling guilty. Flat belly diet is not bad at all. 1400 calories is alright and the good thing about it is you do not have to count calories. I find counting calories so stressful. I see it everyday with my sister and I don't like it. It makes her uptight and she is unable to enjoy that my mom puts in our table because she counts the calories from the foods that she eat. Although I must say that I admire her commitment and self control. I'll recommend this to her to see if this makes her more happy with her eating habit. Thanks for the detailed information mikaela

Yeah I think that this is really a good diet plan and your sister may really like it . The food list with portion sizes and calories makes a person chose which ones they like and need most. You do not need to worry if you have went beyond your calorie limit for the day. There are eighty recipes to choose from so you still can enjoy many different types of food while achieving a flat belly

My personal diet is similar to flat belly diet because I count my calories and I make sure that i only take about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. It really did help me lose a lot of weight but the what I have to endure to achieve this calorie count is also not easy. Controlling your craving is very difficult and maintaining a low calorie diet takes a lot of dedication, commitment, and perseverance. It was difficult from the start but the result is well worth it.

I am not actually not following any, I just make sure that I eat more fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water, and exercise. It doesn't fail to keep me happy with my weight and my health

That's great! I don't really count my calories but avoiding fatty and junk foods, and sodas really help me a lot in maintaining my preferred weight. I also eat almost everything but I make sure that I choose the healthier alternative.
