I know this reply is a little too late but to answer to your questions, I was pushing myself too much and I did 500 sit ups a day. I did 250 in the morning before I go to work and 250 in the evening hours before I go to bed. And I lost about 35lbs in 2 months. My friends was so shocked to see how fast I lost weight without dieting. Just sit ups and nothing else. It burned so many of my body fats and calorie intake. I'd love to do it again but I just don't have too much time now

You might also want to consider performing ab exercises with weights. Any time you up the intensity of your workouts, the greater impact you will see. Your abs, just like the other muscles of your body, can benefit from toning through weight training; every time you add another weight, you force your abs to work harder and become tighter.

Grab an exercise ball and some free weights and perform crunches while holding the weight close to your chest. If free weights are too awkward, consider using the weighted plates for the barbells. Make sure you focus on form. The idea is not to perform your moves quickly, but to squeeze and maintain a smooth, uniform motion. In other words, more reps are not always better if you're not paying attention to the proper mechanics of the move. As in other weight lifting exercises, the idea is to avoid using your body's momentum when lifting, crunching, or raising. Maintain control over your torso and the weight you're handling so that you can reap all the benefits of actually taking the time to do the exercise.

Personally, I like side bends on the ball with weights. You can position yourself sideways on the ball, with your feet planted against the wall for stability. Grasp the weight close to your chest, and lean sideways to the floor, then back to your starting position. You will feel the burn on your obliques in particular; squeeze your abs while you perform this move.

    Hope this helps.

    Best of luck,

    Lee

Great tips! I really like crunches to keep my belly flat. I don't like my love handles so I focused a lot flat belly exercises. Now it's reduced and I am happy but I want to keep going more because I used to have a very toned body for playing badminton. It's a great sport because you move fast and have so much fun during the entire time while losing all the calories.
