I feed my cat food called Wellness(which is concidered human grade) has no corn,wheat,soy or animal by products. It seems to be the best food around.he's under 2 years old now.He's a very happy cat.spends all his time with me,lots of love and affection and he's active. What's the oldest he'll probably get to be? and what can I do to increase the chances of him living very long?
Someone told me today they feed their cat meow mix and fancy feast and it lived up to be 22 (only died because it was poisioned by accident).
I give it CORE by wellness it's is very high in protien and low in carbs
he's about 9 lbs male orange classic tabby,not even 2 years old yet. I make sure I give him only a little food and then refill it when it's all gone.that way it last longer and he won't over eat

Cats can libe into their 20's and their are rare cases into their 30's

You have to realize that it can be the same just like with people. A person eating mcdonalds, smoking and not living a good life can end up living much longer then someone who does everything they are suppose to do.

Dry food dehydrates for one and canned foods are much better. Cats get most of their mositure needs from their food/prey and are not naturally big water drinkers. canned foods are much healthier for cats overall

if its a helthy size with no health problems and a good diet, they should be able to live to 18 and above.

Ealry 20's, although upper teens in more likely. Food does matter, but so do genetics and breeding. It all depends.

Good choice. My cats eat Wellness as well.
if they are healthy, they are able to live into their 20's, but mostly they live till around 18

additional info:
dry vs wet food for cat...cats on constant or only wet food diet tend to or are more likely to have dental problem as they age. my cats' main diet is dry food (Fromm 4-stars cat dry food) , but they also have welness as their wet food source once a day, 'cos my vet told me that they can obtain more moisture from wet food and they don't feel hungry easily.
