When our body needs Potassium (its low) or Omega 3 fats. does the body sense that product is present in the stomach and immediately absorb it or do both wait on the digestion process of several hours to reap benefit?

Both wait on the digestion process of several hours to reap benefit.
The rate at which things like potassium and Omega3 fats are 'absorbed' depends on the 'state' they're in when they enter the digestive tract. If you take a 'pill' the way the 'pill' is made ... gel capsule, tablet, gel with liquid ... varies. SOME is 'absorbed immediately' due to the 'bile' in the stomach, while the most of it is 'absorbed more slowly' in the bowels. That's why when you get 'cramps' if you eat a banana and an orange, it may take 'hours' to get the 'cramps' to 'go away' but if you drink Gatorade or Powerade, the cramps will be 'relieved' within 15 minutes ... one is a 'solid' and the other is a 'liquid' before you put it 'into your stomach.'
