Default Probiotics May Support Weight Loss

I read article from Diet.com that probiotics or healthy bacteria, if incorporated to a person's diet, may support weight loss. Also, the number of good bacteria in the gut differ between healthy weight individuals and overweight individuals.

A study was conducted to examine the impact of a probiotic bacteria on weight loss and body fat. About 87 adults with a BMI between 24-31 volunteered for this study and for 12 weeks, they were given either fermented milk containing probiotic bacteria and fermented milk without the probiotic bacteria. Researchers then studied the changes in their body size and body fat measurements and the results showed no significant changes in the group who were given fermented milk without the probiotic bacteria. As for the other group, here are the findings:

4.6% reduction in visceral abdominal fat
3.3% reduction in subcutaneous abdominal fat
    1.4% decrease in body weight
    1.5% decrease in BMI
1.8% decrease in waist size and
    1.5% decrease in hip size

The study, however, did not indicated what diet plan these groups were in at that time but it is clear that good bacteria Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055 help support healthy weight loss.

Interesting..although it would be great if we knew what diet they were on and what their exercise routines were. I guess I'll eat more yogurt then..

This is good news.. I hope they come up with a diet that is yogurt based or something. Sasa, careful with eating to much yogurt.. They are loaded with sugar too

We should propbably wait for more studies..The information is still insufficient. Like what sasa said, we need to know what diet they were on and how extensive their exercise were.
