    Default Fatty Foods Are Addictive

I read an article Fatty foods may cause cocaine-like addiction from CNN yesterday and it confirmed my suspicion. Apparently, scientists have confirmed that fattening foods such as bacon, cheesecake, etc may be addictive. During their study in rats, they found out that high-calorie, high-fat, foods affect the brain the same way as heroin and cocaine.

Paul J. Kenny, Ph.D., an associate professor of molecular therapeutics at the Scripps Research Institute, said: "Eventually the pleasure centers "crash," and achieving the same pleasure--or even just feeling normal--requires increasing amounts of the drug or food."

That would explain why a lot of people overeat especially on high fat foods. I guess eating large quantities of these foods gives them the feeling of "high".

    Hi..!!
I can definitely believe that over-processed fatty foods are addicting….we are not meant to be eating these foods, and thus they trick our brain. Stick to natural, whole foods, and this addiction can be avoided.

I agree with you Robert.. Processed foods contain chemicals so it's not only addicting, it's also bad for our health.. We should avoid it as much as possible..

I am agree with you fatty and high calories food are not good for the health. I think fruits and vegetables are the good source of vitamins and nutrients and also they are good for the health. Fruits and vegetables also helps in case of overweight.

It certainly is as it is high in vitamins, contains low or no fat at all, high in fiber, and rich in antioxidants. We see that vegetarians and fruitarians in great shape always because of their healthy diet. Fats, sugars, and sodium are some of the causes of weight gain and most commonly present in junk foods that we love to enjoy all the time. If we just avoid them, weight will not be an issue anymore.
