Thread: Valley Meat Company Recalled 1 Million Pounds Of Ground Beef

According to an article in CNN, Valley Meat Company recalled almost 1 million pounds, in form of patties and bulk products, produced between October 2nd, 2009 - January 12th, 2010. Those beef products are believe to have been contaminated by a rare strain of the bacterium E. coli O157:H7. They were distributed to retail outlets, institutional food service providers in CA, TX, OR, AZ and overseas.

It was reported in USDA that 7 people were sickened between February and June and consumers are advised to either throw away these beef products or cook them in temperature of at least 160° F. In most severe cases, E. coli can cause serious illness, even death.

That's not good.. I buy fresh meat and stay away from processed products.. E. Coli? I think I've heard of that before..

Throw them away? It's not an option.. Aren't they going to issue a refund? It's their fault after all. They overlooked it didn't they? They should have checked their product before distributing them.

That's true.. I think they should refund retailers for it. They can cook the food properly too just to be safe.. But I'm sure consumers might not let this slide.. They can't risk feeding their family contaminated foods..
