    Default Vegetable vs the Sun

Recent study shows eating more vegetables such as carrots and tomatoes can give the skin a better glow than the sun? More people go for the sun to improve skin color and get a great tan but according to researchers, eating lots of fruits and vegetables are more effective. They have found that those who eat more portions of fruits and vegetables per day have more golden skin color and that is because of carotenoids which are antioxidants that fight off free radicals in our body. Not only that, carotenoids are also good for our reproductive and immune system. So instead of lying in the sun to get a more attractive skin color, go for more fruits and vegetables

    Hi Mikaela,

Do you have a link to the report you mention? Sounds interesting. I love both juicing and the beach!

Presumably you have to drink a lot of carrots to get this kind of effect. Are you referring to carotenemia or just a better skin condition from juicing? I include carrots in my juices every day and think I look pretty good However, it's nothing like having a tan. Maybe I just need to drink more!

    Hi mikaela,

    Thanks for sharing the link.

I am from the U.K. so it is nice to read a scientific paper written by scientists based in my home country! The pictures really do look amazing. Who would have thought that we can get a better tan from eating lots of carrots and tomatoes than from the sun?

It's a great research right? No need for sun tanning that can cause skin cancer. Eating more red fruits and vegetables is good for the skin and overall health. I'm glad you appreciate the post Juice Friend

It is really true. Soaking yourself in the sun nowadays is no longer healthy. Much better to take a bite on veggies and have them in your diet.
    Great info Mikaela...

There was a time when exposing to sunlight is not only good for the skin but for the overall health as it is rich in vitamin d. However, nowadays it's not advisable anymore because of ozone layer depletion. It could not protect us from the sun's UV rays anymore and that causes cancer, cataract, etc. So eating more fruits and vegetables are advisable rather than sun bathing if you want to achieve a healthy glow on your skin. Mikaela added a link above so anyone can check out the source
