Default How can big dog food companies claim to be healthy?

It irritates me so much, even though I know it and think about it every day and have been for the past few months.. I hate it when the dog food companies like Purina and Eukanuba that people trust so much claim to be healthy, natural, and the best thing in the world for your pets.. Yet they still have chemical preservatives, coloring, by-products, wheat corn and soy. I also hate it when owners who feed their pets this... stuff, claim to be spoiling their pets with high quality food. There's no real question here, I just want to know if people share my frustration.

I totally agree. i fed my chihuahua pedigree for a few years and when we found out that they used all of these terrible "meat-by-products" like euthanized dogs and roadkill, i switched to Canidae all life stages.

I guess it doesn't bother me, since most of what you and I eat have as many/more chemicals, hormones, fillers and crap in it. I pretty much think that until people eat right, and some cause or another makes our food safer and healthier, pets will have to just stand in line behind humans. I suppose nobody that feeds the perfect dog food ever eats food from McDonald's or any grocery store on earth?

    ABSOLUTELY!!!

Look to the right of your question. The Purina ad features CORN!!!
Corn is not, has never been, and shouldn't be considered dog food. Yet there it is proud and pretty!

    It's ridiculous!

All you can do is "preach" to anyone who will listen, and a few who won't (LOL), the difference between good food and nasty food.
Tell everyone. Recommend websites, and books. Read "Foods Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin and spread the word.

    To the person above me...
    I DON'T eat fast food.
    I DON'T eat processed food.
I have some strange food reactions and in researching for my own condition, I got curious about pet food. What I found shocked me.
