    Default Calories 101

Calories are the source of our energy to run, walk, jump, skip and sleep. All of our necessary bodily functions are fueled by calories. However we should be able to know much calories we take in otherwise this will turn into more fat. We have to be sure that we do not go over or under our calorie needs, otherwise we'll end up overweight or underweight.

For calories and protein, they contain around 4 calories per gram, fats have 9 calories per gram, and alcohol have 7 calories per gram. Unless we use these stored fat by cutting on our daily calorie intake or exercising so we'll be able to burn more calories, this fat will remain stored in our body.

Learn how many you are taking in and how much you are burning. By the time you create a calorie deficit, that is when the calorie starts to shed off.

I absolutely agree with your post mikaela! Learning how to count calories and how much you burn with physical activities will make us understand how we can lose weight effectively. Once you start caring for the calories that you bring in your body, it gets addictive. All you do is count your calorie intake in each food so you avoid gaining weight.

That's right! I believe that it is also important that we know our Body Mass Index to identify if we underweight, healthy, or overweight. Knowing how much calories we have in our food will also give us an idea if we have gone beyond our limit. I have not really cared how much calories are in my food because I just make sure that I keep my food consumption to moderation, i drink lots of water, and I exercise to burn the fat buildup in my body.

Me too, I want to be able to enjoy my food and if I count how many calories are in my food, all I will care more about thinking how much fats I'm going to store in my body than appreciating my food. I choose to eat right and keep a balanced diet, so if I crave for icecream I eat yogurt instead. I also avoid junk foods and instead I eat cereals and fruits. I also make sure that I have enough physical activity to keep me fit and energized.

Making sure that we eat balanced diet every time and exercising will help us trim down, and also avoid more fat buildup in our body. However I think that awareness of how the calories in our food work will better help us lose weight efficiently.

Yeah Indian foods have big servings. I have not tried it though. I just heard it from my friends who love Indian foods so much. I enjoy eating spicy foods but I can only take so much.

I think you can tell if the food contains high calories or not but simply looking at how they were cooked and what the ingredients are.
