Default Is Your Drink Making You Fat?

Taking on weight has been long known to be caused by consuming more calories than what the body can burn as energy. The excess calories eventually becomes fat that is stored in the body for later usage. This results in added weight that one can see and even feel.

If you think that it is the food that solely puts on the pounds, then think again. Calories taken from liquid beverages have also been found to be the problem.

Liquid drinks pass through the mouth to the stomach faster and provides less time for the body to signal to the brain that one is eating. This can sometimes not provide the same feeling of fullness as with eating solid food. This can sometimes make it easier for people to gulp down larger amounts of high-calorie drinks than they would have with solid foods.

Another reason is that some people do not consider calories in beverages the same way as they do with food, sometimes neglecting to count the calories and may find it negligible at times. But with what the new studies have shown, this seems to be the opposite. High-calorie drinks can be a valid cause for one to gain weight if not controlled.

I agree with this post. Take soft drinks for example. It is not rich in calories if you only take a few gulp but the taste of it and the refreshment that we get when drinking it makes us want to take in more. So even if it is low calories, the fact that we consume more than enough will still hurt our belly and waist.

In one study that I read over the internet, a group of people were given the same lunch once a week for six weeks with only the type and amount of drink being changed each week. The group seem to drink more as the amount is increased. This led to women increasing their beverage calories by about 10 percent and 26 percent for the men. Participants in the study ate the same amount of calories in food aside from the calories taken through drinks, which includes soft drinks. This led to an increase on the total consumed calories. So this will really tell us that the foods we eat are not only the one that we should look out for but also the beverage that we drink.

Like I always say, check the label for calorie count, ingredients, and serving suggestions. Most of the drinks that we can buy in groceries have specific calorie count on the label. This will make you aware of the amount of calories there is in one serving. I do this all the time so as to not over drink and take in more calories.

I do that too and it's a good practice. Checking the label is a way of caring for your health and your weight. I just finished a 250ml grape juice and it has 65 calories. Not bad at all

Yeah it's not bad at all. 500ml of grape juice is only 120 calories . You get the refreshment that you need without hurting your tummy indeed. I'll do that too from now on!

If you like strawberry smoothies and want to use non fat milk on it, one cup has to 86 calories. Using half a cup will only cost you 43 calories. Now one cup of strawberries has 49 calories. In my case I use half a cup of non fat milk, half of strawberries, and half of water. That will total to only 68 calories! isn't that great? Pure healthy refreshment. I don't use water anymore because I love the taste of strawberries and milk together.

That is great! But of course if you can never go wrong with water with 0 calories . If we only drink water and skip other beverages for occasions, you will definitely save yourself of a large number calories!

You are right on the mikaela! Water is still the best and the healthiest drink because it has zero calories and it cleanses our body of toxins.
