I can understand the working midnights! My hubby is on a 6pm to 6am schedule and he has managed to pack on a few pounds doing so. Problem is, so have I. He will come home with double cheese steak and shake burgers at 6 am and bring one for me. Obviously, not the best thing to eat. But, I think the best rule of thumb is to eat when you are hungry and choose wisely. I only eat at resturaunts that have a low cal menu or a nutrition guide. And I measure everything, from my cottage cheese to the pineapple I add to it, and then I calculate the calories and fat. The first day I did this, I ate 2400, but the next I paid more attention and only took in 1300. I know that is a big reduction, but I chose wisely and ate when I was hungry. And, I don't think your body is retaliating for eating breakfast foods at dinner and dinner foods at breakfast! You might even try talking to a nutrionist. I made myself an appointment with a nutrionist for next week, to be followed by a Dr visit, and the appointment for the nutrionist is considerable cheap! $19 !! (and I don't have health insurance). The time is now to start eating right for tomorrow. I'm going to be 30 this year and want to go into my 30's with a bang! Good Luck!

That's a great plan kbrown8.. That's whatn I did before too.. Before I turned 27, I promised myself to lose weight.. I even set a goal on how much I should weigh on my birthday.. I did lose weight but didn't reach my goal at that time. But I was still happy since I managed to change my eating habits and have been eating healthy as of this day...

i will definately let ya'll know how it goes. It's hard for me to transition to low cal because all I've ever done is atkins, so now I'm eating all kinds of things that were off limits before, even though they were healthy foods. i kind of decided that i need help, and that I have to do something. And my sister in law has had so much luck with going to a weight doctor, she has gone from a 22 to a 12 since last winter, so I figured, i have to give it a try. keeping up with this forum is also helping because i feel like it connects me with other people and it gives me the support i need. My hubby of course doesnt think i need to lose weight and last time i did, he compained that my butt went away (oh poor him) and was boney when i sat in his lap. of course i was exstatic! The second day of my diet he brought home a frozen pizza with cheese in the crust and actually was somewhat offened that i didn't eat it!

I can relate to that.. My family is telling me to stop dieting since I look so thin. I don't think I am though. I've always been "chubby" so they are not used to seeing the new me..

When my family order in or when we eat out, I always order green salads and they started calling it "rabbit's meal".. They're mean, I know.. But I don't mind..
