    Exclamation Need some help!

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I believe I'm in a big problem.

    - I'm 17 years old, female, and weight 41 kgs. My height is 1.59

    - I am under treatment, and doctors have told me I must not do any kind of sports. Moreover, they have given me an hypercaloric diet which consists of great amounts of dairy products (but not low-fat), cakes, biscuits, cupcakes, etc.

    - I am never hungry and the only foods I like and enjoy eating are vegetables, fruits and some cereals. I find sweets and the like cloying. (naturally, due to my age and my taste, both my parents and doctors think I have anorexia nerviosa). Despite this, I eat them as part of the treatment.

    - No matter whatever doctors are giving me, I'm not gaining weight. I believe the problem is I have a large percentage of fat in my body, but no muscle, that's why I don't feel HEALTHY despite the low weight!

Is it just my opinion or do you also believe doctors are doing something wrong?

    Additional information:

    - I have always been thin, under-the-middle weight.I had however a great weight loss for the last 2 years

    - I'm a vegetarian (my parents still force me to eat fish once a week)

    - I'm from Argentina, not from the States.

    Thank you!

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through now Eressea. However, I think your doctor knows what's best for your condition right now. How often do you go to the doctor for check up? How long have you been on hypercaloric diet?

Kathy is right, your doctor knows best. Your body need those foods that's why your doctor put you on that diet. Once you lose a lot of weight, it does take awhile before you gain back. I say just continue to follow the diet and consult your doctor regularly so he/she can follow your development.

Hypercaloric dieting since first week of October more or less. Of course, the diet itself has been changed several times by nutricionists.

I hope this ends, seriously. I can't stand these foods anymore!

I still don't understand why they are not giving me excercise as part of the treatment, to at least gain weight with muscle.

You may have lost some bone mass that's why your doctor's don't want you to be strained from exercising. If you cut down on calories to lose weight but do not exercise, you do not only lose weight or fats, but also muscle and bone mass. You'll be better soon, just follow your doctor's orders.

Yeah that might be the reason but if you really want to know why they won't allow you to exercise, you should ask your doctor. It's important that you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it so you can set your goals. If you really cannot stand your diet, you may ask your doctor for other alternatives. There maybe different types of foods you can eat aside from just sweets.
