Default Have trouble sleeping and I need help

Hello everyone! I have trouble sleeping nowadays and it makes me stressed. I normally sleep late at night and then I wake up late in the morning. I am less productive in the morning because I'm normally tired from staying all night. So what I do to past time is watch tv and exercise but even after that I still can't sleep. I also find myself eating a lot more for 2 days now and I don't want it to ruin my weight diet because I have been working hard to lose weight. Please help...

Stress can really sabotage our diet and I understand how you feel. Whatever is stressing you, let it go when go to rest. Your body and mind need it to perform your other duties. Take the sweets and junk foods away from your fridge or kitchen and only stock healthy foods that are good for the body when you are stressed such as fruits such as blueberries, bananas, and oranges, almonds, tuna, milk, and sweet potatoes.

I have low tolerance to alcohol so whenever I have trouble sleeping my last resort is drinking half a glass of red wine and I sleep like a rock before I can even finish them . It's good for the heart and rich in antioxidants which is good for the body. Don't worry because red wine is completely good for the body if you keep it in moderation, that's a glass for women and 2 glasses for the men everyday!

SILENT REFLUX, google it and you find out more. its along the same idea as acid reflux, only this will make you wake up before body wants to. and cause other reactions.

I normally only drink a cup of coffee everyday during the morning to keep me awake and have energy to go to work. I guess I'm a little more stressed and worried about personal matters that my brain is stays active for long even if I feel I am already tired. This is the first time I have heard of silent reflux and I'll surely learn more about it, thanks! The wine idea is also good. My mom drinks wine everyday because she said it's good for the heart indeed. I'll try that

It's probably from the stress that you are having trouble sleeping. When I had insomnia that's when I started drinking wine and it really helped. I wake up and feel well rested. If you're okay with drinking wine, it's a healthy option anyway so no need to worry about that. Drink warm milk or camomile tea as it can help to keep you calm and have a good night sleep

I seldom drink wine because I too have a low alcohol tolerance. I did try to have a sip of my mom's red wine and I slept very well. I didn't even remember how I got to my room. That's how disoriented I was. I did feel good and my heart was pumping so hard after the sip. Thanks for the suggestion mikaela! Anyone have other suggestions aside from drinking wine?

Another suggestion would be chamomile tea. Chamomile is supposed to soothe the stomach and relax your mind.

Yeah I agree and I have tried it as well. It does keep you calm and help you be able to have a good night sleep. Try lavender scented room freshener or using a lavender scented shower cream when taking a warm bath. It has calming effect too and may help to put you to sleep.

I suffer from insomnia too. You could try taking a hot bath at night. Also, I've heard the best time to exercise is between 4 - 6pm, any later and it can affect your sleep - not good for working people I know! I've started taking semi-skimmed milk at night, that helps a little too.

When I get really desperate, I take kalms (night), which is a valerian based herbal sleeping tablet and it doesn't make you feel drowsy the next morning. I now take it when I travel because I have terrible jet-lag.

Other things are great for relaxation is lavender, I buy the oil and sprinkle it on my pillow. Also, whenever I change my pillow sheets and pjs, I sleep better, I have no idea why. As you can tell, I've looked into this alot because it's such a problem for me.

Also, it's probably best if you write down what is bothering you in a diary and ways to deal with it. That might help ease the worry.
