    Default Dieting & Excercise

Hi there - want to lose a little further weight for my wedding.

Liking the look of the flat belly diet, even though I love my chicken!

One question - I am quite active and run 3 times a week (between 6-8 miles a time)

On my running days I tend to eat an extra banana or some unsalted nuts as 'fuel' for my run.

generally, how do people find mixing exercise with these diets or are the diets for less active/busier people?

I am thinking 1400 calories intake with an 8 mile run (800 burnt) - will make me, a 80KG man feel pretty wasted.

Any ideas how to balance this? Would I simply good more good calories on these days or do nothing and on running days I am being double effective?

    Just wondering!?

1400 calories sounds dangerously low for an 80KG man, especially when you're running 8 miles a day. As for being 'double effective,' in most cases a high calorie expenditure and a low calorie intake usually threatens your metabolism. It sounds like you're eating good things, but if you're not eating enough your metabolism will suffer and you won't lose weight. My advice is to start drinking milk once/day and then only water for your fluids. Eat 5 meals at about 300-450 calories each every 3 hours; that way your body will have fewer calories to burn off after each meal, your metabolic rate will stay high and you won't have to starve yourself! Congrats on the wedding btw!

Very well said everly! I totally agree that 1400 daily calories isn't enough for you especially that you are highly active. I am no expert but I think if you eat more good carbs, if you can just have fish, and eat more veggies you will lose weight and not starve yourself.

Well i agree with dazzler. Exercise and diet both are important for fitness. in my opinion try to eat vegetables and fruits because both are best diet food. With these food you can easily lose weight. Try to reduce the amount of calories from your food and try to do exercise regularly.

I'm not an expert either but I do agree that 1400 is a little low for you. I'm a petite girl and I am on 1400 daily calorie diet. If you continue with this diet you'll have less energy and it won't be able to supply all the needed nutrients in your body. I would keep my diet low fat, have more vegetables, fruits, and protein. You're an active person so need more energy

1800 - 2000 daily calorie is not bad for you since you are an active person and just continue exercising. Eat more protein to help you with growing your muscles. Running is a very good exercise and you may add other form of exercises too. You're doing great already, keep it up!

If you only are getting 1400 calories and burn 800 of them on runing, are you not giving your body nearly enough calories just live on.

You need to increase your intake, or you can end up harming you body.
