I read that bad oral hygiene does not only cause bad breath but may also lead to heart disease. How? Bad oral hygiene could lead to gum infection and bacteria from your mouth could enter the bloodstream. According to Dr. Sally Cram, a periodontist from Washington D.C:
Some researchers believe in this too. They say bacteria and inflammation from the mouth are linked to other health problems in the rest of your body."There seems to be a possible association between gum inflammation and untreated gum disease, and higher incidence of heart disease."
"Many studies have shown a direct link between chronic gum inflammation and developing diabetes. And on the flip side, people who are uncontrolled diabetics have a much higher risk of developing gum disease."
So be sure to brush your teeth regularly and floss your teeth every 12-24 hours.
