Thread: Im getting surgery in Chicago, && I Need To Stay Somewhere.?

I don't know where to stay, or food, or anything. :|
I'm going to get a lapband, I'm 15. I'm getting it done in Chicago at the Univeristy of Illinois Medical Center. Where should I stay? && does anyone know if the hospital has something to do for the kids? I mean, I really dont want to be stuck in a effing bed for 129047891238749 days. Is it kid friendly?? Oh, and where is a good place to eat. Were checking in the night before surgery, so whatever you can help me with would be great.

Well, the University of Illinois Medical Center is just west of downtown, so you can do a search on downtown hotels at any of the big sites. Hyatt has the closest hotel to the hospital. I wouldn't count on any of the downtown hotels being all that kid-friendly, though. Not sure what that particular hospital offers, either.

For places to eat near the hospital (if you should be doing that right before lapband surgery), there are restaurants on Taylor Street, just east of Ashland. Plenty of choices, although Italian is the primary selection for that area (Little Italy)

UIMC has a Pediatrics ward. They have games and I believe computers. I've only been to that floor once. UIMC is just down the street from Little Italy. There are many good Italian places like Pompeii.
The closest hotel to UIMC is a Marriott at the corner of Ashland and Harrison.
