If the insurance won't pay, you can pay it out of pocket. You can try to pre-negotiate the price beforehand. It's harder to negotiate a price after the fact.

Look into the possibility of switching policies to an HSA, (health savings account,) qualified plan offered by your current insurance carrier. It is important to double-check that you will not have to re-apply to raise your deductible in this way, and that all pre-existing conditions are still covered. It's likely that the company will allow you to do this because you are taking on more of the financial responsibility, not them.
The reason you would want to do this is for the tax benefits. Once you have negotiated the best price for the surgery you can pay for it with tax-free funds that you have placed in your HSA account, up to a certain limit.
Also, it may be possible to have the insurance company pay for the surgery. Though they have said no at this time, you may be able to petition them for reconsideration.

You didn't say why it was denied. Could be your doc has not proven medical necessity. Before deciding to pay out of pocket find out why the insurance is covering it.

Yeah, mine won't pay for the liposuction that I want. That is the thing about cosmetic surgery, it is not medically necessary. You are going to have to pay out of pocket or try exercising.

it has to be a covered benefit first and fore most! If not covered then there has to be an approved authorization on file!
