I'm looking for something that comes in powder form. The powder versions are always much cheaper.

I haven't tried any meal replacement but I heard that isagenix works. Of course there are side effects that you should consider so do your own research before trying it for precaution. You'll never know if it contains an ingredient you are allergic to.
When I'm in a hurry, I buy the EAS chocolate powder from Sam's Club and mix it with unsweetened almond milk. I can't stand the taste of most protein drinks but this one is pretty good. When I'm feeling in the mood for a 'treat', I'll throw in some sugar free Hershey's syrup, half a banana and some crushed pineapple (rinsed and drained). Tastes just like a banana split.

Are protein shakes generally safe? Can anyone try it out or do you need to be working out for its effects to be more effective?
I think protein shakes are generally safe but you should be working out if you are going to use it; whereas you dont necessarily have to work out with nutritional shakes. I use the 90 day challenge nutritional shake and i absolutely love it...the powder is delicious and can be mixed with anything!!
Generally, the difference between a nutritional shake and a protein shake comes down to the grams of protein in it. EAS has 25grams. Most nutritional shakes have 15gm or less. I don't know of any considered 'unsafe' based on their ingredients.
I honestly haven't tried both but I'm considering it. I don't workout so i guess I'd go with nutritional shakes.
I don't 'work out' either...but I do protein shakes because they're finding that protein is what keeps the hunger appeased. Current thought (obviously debatable) is anywhere from 1gm to 1.8gm of protein per kilo of current weight...and if you're working out, doing strength training type exercises, you might need more. I found that when I increased my protein, my hunger went away but it was hard to increase without seriously increasing my calories, so I went with the EAS because it's low cal, low carb and has 25gm of protein in it.

Well I recommend what I am using, I lost 9kgs using the meal replacement, the company that makes it has been around for over 30 years, and are leaders in the nutrition market. This stuff is really amazing I will never stop using it, the best thing is it all natural. Not like all you chemically enhanced products out there.
Here the link to the stuff I have been using you can check it out otherwise if you would like to know more send me a post.
