Default What can cause a very early period?

I usually get my period about every 24 days and it lasts for 4-5 days. I got my period a week early and i'm not sure if it may be serious.
I've been under serious stress; i'm working in a bad enviroment and I had midterms this week. I averaged about 6.5 hours of sleep each night this past week so i'm thinking it could have been that.
Yesterday, a friend gave me a bottle of prenatal vits and I took one and also figure as a variable, this could have somehow messed up my hormone balance (if it's possible for prenats to do that). I don't take in extra iron supplement so i'm not really worried.
I don't normally track my cycle, I know I should but I usually know when it's coming and this was a total suprise.
I'm 19, turning twenty shortly. But I will say puberty started early (12) for me.

If you're just a teen or still growing, then its perfectly normal. You're body is still getting used to things and it can effect your regular period. If you're under stress or tired, that can maybe be why. Before, I had two periods in a month or I was late for a whole week. If you need more info, just ask a doctor.

It could be a number of things. Your stress level immedietly jumps out; stress can delay a period or make it come sooner. Depending on your age, your period may still be irregular, but that's usually for women under the age of 18.

In the end; when in doubt, ask the doctor.

Many things can affect your cycle and stress is one of them. Prenatals do not, I have even seen prenatals given to guys because of insurance issues. Try to destress and let your body do it's thing. The only real problem with an early period is that it could have been a miscarriage, but even then most people don't even notice and without sever pain or other symptoms it is nothing to worry about. Believe it or not most women miscarry with a period and never know it. Most likely it is the stress and if you continue in the stressful environment you could even quit having your period for awhile. Most girls in army boot camp don't have a period. Our bodies are just weird that way.
