Default FDA rejects new diet pill Qnexa

I just read from USAToday that the FDA panel voted 10-6 against Qnexa since there might be potential risks if the drug is used long-term. Although the panels all agreed that Qnexa will help dieters lose pounds (more than 10% weight loss) but the benefits were outweighed by side effects such as memory lapses, heart palpitations, suicidal thoughts and birth defects.

The drug contains phentermine which helps suppress appetite and topiramate which makes dieters feel more satiated.

It's a good things that FDA is becoming strict about approving diet pills. It may help you lose weight but consequences of using it is not worth it.

suicidal thoughts and birth defects? These are dangerous side effects. I'm glad this got rejected.

I don't use diet pills but I'm sure others would like to try this. FDA admitted that it works right? Too bad the side effects are too dangerous for it to be released in the market.
