    Default Dangerous Diet Supplements

I read an article at CNY central and this is very important especially to those who use dietary supplements:

According to Consumer Reports, "only a third of 54,000 diet supplements on the market have been proven safe by scientific evidence". Those considered unsafe may contain ingredients that may cause serious health problems such as kidney damage, liver problems, heart problems, even cancer. FDA does not have the power to regulate these supplements, so they remain available in stores.

These are the ingredients that were considered most dangerous:

    Aconite
    Bitter orange
    Chaparral
    Colloidal silver
    Coltsfoot
    Comfrey
    Country mallow
    Germanium
    Greater celandine
    Kava
    Lobelia
    Yohimbe

Be sure to check the label of your dietary supplements and see if it contains any of these ingredients. For more information, you can read the article here.

Great post! Only a third of 54,000? That's what.. 18,000? Do they have a complete list of supplements that are considered safe? If that list will be made in public, consumers would know which one to buy..

Excellent post.. Everyone should be aware of this.. FDA can't pull these products out of the market? Why not? It's dangerous isn't it? Someone should do something about it.

Thanks Mikaela, this is very helpful! If FDA cannot regulate it, it should be the drug store's responsibility to know if the drugs/supplements they are selling are even safe for use. People's health is at stake here and it should be taken seriously.
