Default Starting P90X, food and supplements?

    I'm 16 years old, weigh 160 lbs, and I'm 5'6''.
Kay, I have the P90X vids and papers, but I was wondering if there are certain supplements and whey protein that I should use (I live close to a GMC store). Also, are there any foods and recipes for foods with high protein and low fat. I dont want to buy the beachbody stuff.
ALSO!!!! Do you think its a good idea to record your reps for each exercise? is it for like to motivate you and see how much better you've become?
One more thing, since I have fat on my belly, should I do the lean version first and then the classic or does it matter? I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the fat, while building up muscle.

Default Starting P90X, food and supplements?

There are plenty of foods with high protein and low fats. Mostly in teh form of meat like chicken breast, poultry, or perhaps tuna. Some basic supplements someone can be helped by with their diet is of couse whey protein shakes. Make sure they dont have a high saturated fat content or a lot of sugar. Also anyone now a days should be supplementing their body with multi-vitamins. If you are seeming soar a lot after your workouts you can even buy vitamin C supplements which will help with muscle rebuilding and your downtime.

The purpose of recording reps for each exercise ona regular basis is to make sure that you are making strides forward and also motivation purposes. You want to always be pushing your body a little bit further each week to apply the appropriate fatigue to the new muscles your body is building. I have had friends who have done the P90X routine though I have not done it myself. It appears from their build after 12 weeks with the program and from watching the routines that they perform that the program is geared towards more fat burning then muscle building. A lot of the exercises are done with your own weight or dumbells for resistance which will help you grow some muscles to begin with but it will shortly sputter out. This is also reconfirmed from just watching the infomercials. All the transformations on teh program are in teh form of lowering bf levels and not actually putting on too much muscle mass. You can see that they are pretty well build already and just need to lose some bodyfat to really look ripped.

With this in mind, depending on how much fat you actually have, I would just go with the normal one becuase most of the exercises you will be doing will start to translate into more of a fat burning routine then a muscle building one.

    Good Luck!
