italia18:
I want to get my little brother into shape. I've been doing P90X for a almost a year now, and I've done Power 90 for a couple of years before that, but I know that these programs are way too intense for a 12 year old of any fitness level.
Are there any programs that would be suitable for him, such as 10 minute trainer?
Also, when is the appropriate age to start using weights and/or resistance bands, and what should the maximum weight lifted be?
He also plays Ice Hockey, so anything that well help with his endurance and strength would be great.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mike.
Mike,
My best advice is avoid advice on these boards in this matter.(Seems like a hypocritical statement since i'm giving advice on the board). I would take your questions you have here to the atletic trainer with his ice hockey team. If the team doesn't have one, check with a local high school athletic trainer. The reason I recommend them is because they're used to seeing sports related injuries, etc in teens. Therefore they have an idea of what to avoid and what is good practice. The trainers in my high school used to build work out regimines specific to the student if you took the time to request one. I cannot say they will in your school system, but I'm sure they can help you with the answers you're looking for.
If I can recommend some exercise, I'd say just good old fashion chasing around that kids do.
