Default What is the best way for me to lose 100 (or more) pounds by October 2009?

I know the obvious answer is diet and exercise, but I'd really appreciate tips and/or guidelines. I don't have the money to join a gym, but I do have an elliptical that I purchased so I can get in shape, as well as one of those yoga balls. Currently it's too cold to do walking/running outside (I live in Minnesota), but once spring hits I plan to hit the trails and bike path, plus I play on a softball team in the summer, and volleyball in the winter. My biggest problem is going to be food: I have such a sweet tooth! I love to cook and want to start cooking lowfat meals for my family.

So, long question short, what are some good, inexpensive ways for me to lose weight and tone up, and also some good websites or books with lowfat, tasty recipes? Serious answers only, please.

go to 24 hour fitness, they help a lot because they do not only do the fitness part, but they also help you get rid of cravings and stop eating unhealthy.

p90x is the best method. I have been on it for 48 days of the 90 and it is a phenominal go at your own pace work out. Check out the website at p90x.com When your workout is done, the beauty is you still continue a few times a week. My total cost was 129.99 and it is well worth it.......

What you need to do is up your metabolism speed. This will make the fat disappear and not come back.(If you keep the level up, that is). To do so quite simply eat a balanced diet, drink plentiful water and eat plentiful fruit and vegetables. When you notice a change in your metabolism speed continue to do what you were doing and eating at that time. Also start a daily exercise routine, but don't over do it as your fat will be replaced by muscle and it will look and weigh pretty much the same!

I am 5'1 and used to be 200 pounds (EXTREMELY fat for that height). What I did is so simple, and I still stick to it today because I could not stop the diet, I live by it: Atkins.

First two weeks, I dropped 15 pounds by only eating meat, chicken, seafood (as long as it's not breaded) any kind of cheese, nuts, lots of water, crystal light, even any kind of diet soda. I felt great!

After that, you will continue to lose weight all the time, and all the protein that you eat makes your skin tight, not loose and saggy as exemplified by other dieters. And I have no stretch marks, either!

Simply put: No breads (unless low-carb), no sweets (unless sugar-free, in that case, eat all of it that you want). No bread, low to no carbs, no sugar.

You can eat any and all sugar free sweets. They taste exactly the same and will cause absolutly no weight gain. (they used to have smaller companies making them, but now all the big companies like hershey's, reeses', cadburys, russel stover, all of them have sugar free!)

You WILL lose weight. You will look GREAT. I have had no health problems, and have been on this diet for 3 going on 4 years. As for my body? I am 135 pounds and looking great! You can see my pics for yourself at myspace.com/Live4PinkFloyd...

I wish you all the luck, and know how lean and strong your going to look!

Diets do not work, really, once you come off of them, the weight is back on in no time..

you need to condition your body, as well as your mnd, and you do not have to wait till spring.....it can be cold as heck outside, you can still walk fast, jog or run, I run, every day, 2 miles, before breakfast, when I come back from run, I do my situps, 50 every am, and then I hit the stair climber, and cool down for 30 minutes on my treadmill........then you have a half a grapefruit for breakfast, and an 8 oz glass of orange juice, yes you can have coffe if you want it......

but lay off the soft drinks even diet, will make you retain the weight...any kind of soft drink is not good, one once in a while wont hurt but not every day.

now, for lunch, if you go out, get a salad or a very small meal, that consists of baked or grilled fish or chicken...I have grilled fish every day for lunch, with salt free lemon and pepper on it.

din din, is even easier,,,,,,I come home, grill in my oven a boneless skinless chicken breast, with white steamed rice, and brocolli or aspargus each night...no bed, and one half of a baked sweet tater, fixed in the oven, wrap in reynolds wrap, comes out really steamy and so tender, then you can for taste, sprinkle **Splenda brown sugar on it....and very little country crock lite, butter, half a teaspoon will do for me..
I also have 4 ozs of salad dry with my meal.

if I want steak, I get a 8 oz prime rib, cut in half, last me 2 meals, and do the same thing, bake in oven,...and then my tater, salad, and veggies, no bread ever........

unsweetened ice tea, with lemon.....as much as you want to drink of this is fine.

I have Crystal Light at work to drink or water during the day.

the true secret to any diet and sticking to it, is get your body in shape for it...just pushing away from the table does not do it, trust me, I tried this and did not lose but very little.......After my hystrectomy after I had my son, I gained so much weight due to depression.....then I snapped out of it, after a year of not caring,,,,trust me girl, this can be done....

I took my brother and sisters advice, he is a Thorasic Surgeron in Montana, and my sister is a Doctor and Nutrionist in Kentucky.....she sent me the stuff and I started in on it, got disgusted at first ,but put my mind to it and I have never gone back to the short fat little woman ever again.

I have kept my weight off for 23 yrs now, and I am a size 6 and I am 5 foot tall, even, and I lost 138 lbs and have kept it off...and I will be 60 yrs old Oct 31st of this year, and I feel better than I did when I was 25 yrs old.

get busy, get the exercise going, you do it, I will cheer you on, every day if necessary, if you get down and want to stop just email me, and we will talk it out together,,,,,,,,,

Yes every day, I do these exercises, however I do have to admit, I had to stop them for a couple of months due to my broken tib-fibula in my right ankle...I am exercising all indoors, cant run for a couple of more months per my doctor, but have just started back on the machines....and doing my situps, I was careful about what I ate, laying around alot, but I went to work every day but the dirst 5 days.....I cant wait till I can run again, I really miss it.

good luck to you and your diet, come on, you are ready, gear up now,,,bundle up and start that exercise, its not all about the food, it is about taking pride in yourself enough to keep the exercise and food separate...

59, and proud of it......
