    Default "Draino" Porridge

This is a concoction that i make up for myself for work. It started as plain oatmeal, then progressed into added fruit and has developed into a full fledged porridge (in the old world sense of the term). All measurements are very approximate and can be tinkered with to taste:

    1 Tbsp pearl barley
2 Tbsp large flake rolled oats
    2 Tbsp Red River cereal
    1 Tbsp Cream of Wheat
    2 Tsp raw brown sugar
    pinch of salt
2 cups milk (your choice of %)
    1 cup water.
    2 Tbsp sultana raisins
    2 Tbsp dried apple slices
    1 Tbsp dried cranberries

Put water and milk into saucepan, add salt and sugar and stir. Add dry ingredients and stir. Heat on high, stirring frequently. Stir in dried fruit. Remove from heat when boiling and allow to cool, stirring occasionally during cooling period. Pour into containers/bowls.
    Serves 4.

I normally make this for myself as I'm getting ready for work in the morning. The whole process takes about 10 minutes from taking the saucepan out of the cupboard to removing the porridge from the heat. I then finish getting dressed before pouring into Tupperware containers for the next few days shifts. It tastes awesome and keeps you feeling full for a long time.

Let me know what you think,
    David.

I love this recipe! I'm sure it tastes good. And it's healthy! This porridge will surely fill you up longer. One thing I like about it is that it's high in fiber and it's always to eat a high fiber breakfast. Thanks for sharing David! I'll try this tomorrow
